Wes, an intuitive, laid back, and socially awkward teenager over analyzes and criticizes the social system at his high school. Him and his best friend Liz satirically come up with a game titled Social Currency which consists of points and a rank system to climb to the top of the social hierarchy of high school. Eventually Wes gets obsessed with the game and sacrifices the thing most important to him.

When Aloe, a dark, depressing girl gets set up on a date, she meets Venice, a boy oddly similar to her. The two of them harshly comment on others in a restaurant, while being stereotypical and hurtful, leading to a connection between them both. Venice deceives Aloe, and she gets sucked into a dream-like state, where she realizes Venice is actually her subconscious and she must change.

She yearns to please her overbearing mother, yet feels like she cannot live up to her expectations. When an opportunity arises for her mother to be on a reality TV show, Beatrice does not hesitate, sparking a positive change within their relationship.

As his wacky family celebrates his adulthood, they encounter a hacker which provokes some unexpected surprises.
